Biography

Kathleen Louisa Brandhofer was born in Vienna and grew up in Berlin. The mezzo-soprano with Austrian-American roots comes from a musical family. She completed her studies in Arts Management and Music (BA) in the USA with honors. She went on to study Vocal Performance (BA) and Music Pedagogy (MA) at the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK).

She further refined her artistic training in masterclasses and art song courses with, among others, Eric Schneider, Malcolm Martineau, Christiane Oelze, Helen Donath, Konrad Jarnot, Wolfram Rieger, and Axel Bauni. She was a scholarship recipient of the association Yehudi Menuhin “Live Music Now.”

Kathleen performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany, Austria, Great Britain, and the USA. She co-founded the Lied duo PianoCantando and was a member of the Berlin chamber choir Opus Vokale. With the Vienna State Opera Chorus Concert Association, she performed at the Salzburg Festival under Riccardo Muti and Mariss Jansons.

Since 2016, she has been a permanent member of the chorus at the Landestheater Linz, where she has appeared in approximately 50 productions and has also performed solo roles in several opera productions.

As an arts manager, she has worked for the music publishers Boosey & Hawkes and Bote & Bock in Berlin and New York, the Salzburg Easter Festival, and the agency Classictic. From 2014 to 2017, she served as Artistic Director of the Berlin chamber music series ART DE L’AUTRE.

Kathleen is also an experienced trainer with diverse qualifications. She is a certified Mental Trainer (Diploma), certified Business Mental Trainer and Resilience Trainer, NLP Practitioner (DVNLP), certified in the Accelerated Learning method, and a trained English instructor.

Since 2024, she has been teaching voice at the Upper Austrian State Music School System (Oberösterreichisches Landesmusikschulwerk).
